7393. REPUBLICANS, Slandered.—

They endeavored [in the elections] to conjure
up the ghost of anti-federalism, and to
have it believed that this and republicanism
were the same, and that both were Jacobinism.
But those who felt themselves republicans
and federalists, too, were little moved
by this artifice.—
